How deceitful spirits want to usurp God’s position as the Holy Trinity

Quick Summary:

The spirit of poverty, orphan spirit, and spirit of religion are very active right now, attempting to convince us they are the trinity rather than God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. As usual, they want to separate us from God truth.

Business Impact:

Most often I see these 3 spirits impact businesses in the following ways:

Sales / Pipeline

  • The sales pipeline getting “stuck” at a certain stage.
  • A sense of fear or lack around future business or growth.
  • Unreasonable expectations of salespeople (shoot the moon goals).
  • Questioning if God will provide for you or your companies employees.

Project Completion

  • Disruptive patterns around project timeframes, missing deadlines, or unreasonable client expectations.
  • An unhealthy, almost desperate, need to follow processes and procedures causing missed deadlines or never-ending internal projects.

Employee Behavior

  • Employees feel disconnected or unimportant to the organization:
    • Increase in turnover
    • Decrease in productivity or engagement
  • Fear of losing jobs:
    • Employees hoard work and decrease collaboration to feel important or valuable and increase personal security.
    • Managers stop delegating and are overwhelmed while employees are idle.

Action Steps:

There are many options if you think you may be influenced by these spirits. There is a suggested prayer at the end of this article, you can pray with a friend or prayer team member at church, you can visit www.healingrooms.com to find a healing prayer ministry near you, or schedule time to work through the issue with me at www.iMethod.life.

In Depth Explanation:

Recently, I have noticed a consistent pattern of a trio of deceitful spirits showing up together, backing up each other’s lies as they attempt to prevent God’s blessings to reach His children. The spirit combination is poverty, orphan, religion.

The spirit of poverty focuses on stealing God’s promised abundance.

  • “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give him a rich and satisfying life.” John 10:10 NLT.
  • Other translations may use the words “life abundantly”.

The orphan spirit focuses on our identity as God’s child. This is the tactic satan used with Jesus at His temptation, trying to get Jesus to question whether He is the Son of God.

  • If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here…” Luke 4:9 ESV.

The religious spirit attempts to take away our relationship with God and replace it with rules and requirements. Strict obedience to rules without compassion or empathy is a sign of the religious spirit. We see this spirit in the teachers of the law and Pharisees in the story of the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11) but Jesus counters with the need to recognize that none of us except Him can fulfill the law and we need to be very careful as we hold others to a standard we cannot satisfy ourselves.

  • “The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say? John 8:5 NLT
  • “They kept demanding an answer, so He stood up again and said, ‘all right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!’” John 8:7 NLT

During recent prayers and work with clients I have noticed that one of the spirits will be at the forefront and when we deal with that spirit another is “next in line” and then the third is ready once the first two have been dealt with.

Yesterday, during the sermon at church, God shared more with me. These are a trio of spirits attempting to usurp Him as the Holy Trinity. While talking to a friend about it later that day he called it the “Unholy Trinity.” God showed me they pair up as follows:

God the Father is opposed by the orphan spirit who wants us to think we are slaves and not children. This spirit attacks our identity in Christ at all levels. It attempts to make us think we are:

  • An imposition. God doesn’t have time for us, He is too busy with bigger things.
  • A burden. We are too much for God and He can’t handle us or our emotions.
  • A sinner beyond salvation. What we have done is simply unsalvageable and even Jesus Himself cannot unite us with God.

But God tells us:

“The Spirit you have received adopts you and welcomes you into God’s own family. That is why we call out to Him, ‘Abba! Father!’ as we would address a loving daddy.” Romans 8:15 The Voice

Jesus is opposed by the spirit of poverty. Jesus is the epitome of incredible generosity. He healed, cast out demons, provided for all of His disciples’ needs, fed thousands of people, came to this world from His perfect and comfortable place in heaven for our benefit, and most of all, sacrificed Himself for our salvation. The spirit of poverty wants us to believe:

  • We will never have enough.
  • If God provides for us, He will only provide for our basic needs and nothing more.
  • There is no hope.
  • Following Jesus means all fun will be taken out of life.

God wants to give us everything that is good for us!

“Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. Everyone who asks will receive. Everyone who searches will find. And the door will be opened for everyone who knocks. Would any of you give your hungry child a stone, if the child asked for some bread? Would you give your child a snake if the child asked for a fish? As bad as you are, you still know how to give good gifts to your children. But your heavenly Father is even more ready to give good things to people who ask.” Matthew 7:7-1 CEV

Holy Spirit is opposed by the religious spirit who wants us to believe that Christianity is nothing more than a set of rules and regulations we need to follow.

God says religion is about caring for other and staying close to Him.

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:27 ESV

The deceitful religious spirit wants us to believe:

  • Rules are more important than relationships.
  • There is no room for compassion or empathy when it comes to God’s law.
  • God’s law should be enforced with violence if necessary.
  • God is a distant God and doesn’t care about the details of our lives.
  • Holy Spirit doesn’t live within us to walk with us every step of our day.
  • Holy Spirit is weird, and we will do unnatural things and be cast out of our friendship groups and families if we allow Him to work through us.
  • Holy Spirit is unpredictable and random. He will cause us to be irrational, irresponsible, emotional, unpredictable, and unreliable.
  • We will be separated from God if we allow immorality in our midst, therefore, all immorality must be irradicated even if it is at great cost.
  • There is no room to love someone who is making an immoral choice.

But God tells that with the Holy Spirit we are able to move through this world differently:

“The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8 NASB1995

Imagine this world guided by Holy Spirit with His fruits being directly experienced in every relationship and choice.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 ESV

There are simple ways to remove these spirits and return the Holy Trinity to its rightful place. I have detailed one strategy below, you can pray with the prayer team at church, find a healing ministry at www.healingrooms.com, or set up an appointment to work with me.

Suggested Prayer

Here is one prayer strategy that I have found very effective.

  • Take a few deep breaths and relax into your loving connection with God.
  • Ask Him to forgive you for listening to these deceitful spirits.
  • Ask God if He wants to share anything with you about why you believed their lies. Pause for a minute to give God an opportunity to communicate with you. Notice what He shares through a picture, words, bible verse, a ‘knowing’ inside of you, His audible voice, a shift in the atmosphere or environment around you, or something else.
  • If He communicates something you can pray into that and if nothing is obvious simply move to the next step.
  • Remove the spirits. I learned this from Tom at the Loveland Healing Rooms and love it because it is so simple yet powerful. Simply say:
    • “orphan spirit – get out of my life, get out of my body now, in Jesus’ name”
    • “spirit of poverty – get out of my life, get out of my body now, in Jesus’ name”
    • “religious spirit – get out of my life, get out of my body now, in Jesus’ name”
    • “Father God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, I invite you into my life even more fully than you have been before. Fill me up with a fresh sense of You.”
