Is There a Biblical Basis for This Work?

Absolutely!

Throughout the Bible, God shares with us how much He wants to be part of our daily lives and work…and how much He blesses us when we invite Him in. Here are a few of the Bible verses God has highlighted to me over the years sharing the importance of this work.

Jeremiah 10:23 (NLT)

“I know, LORD, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course.”

When we seek God’s direction consistently, He is thrilled to shows us our course!

Ecclesiastes 10:10 (ESV)

If the iron is blunt, and one does not sharpen the edge,
    he must use more strength,
    but wisdom helps one to succeed.”

When we involved Him in the work we “sharpen the edge” so we don’t need as much strength to find success.

Hebrews 11:6 (NLT)

“…he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”

Proverbs 2:6 (ESV)

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

Jeremiah 33:3 (ESV)

“Call to me and I will tell you great and mighty things you do not know.”

2 Chronicles 20:20 (ESV)

“Believe in the Lord your God and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will succeed.”

1 Corinthians 14:1 (ESV)

“Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you might prophesy.”

Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)

“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Isaiah 48:17 ESV

“I am the Lord your God, who teaches you how to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.”

Proverbs 1-3 (ESV)

These proverbs emphasize repeatedly to seek wisdom and understanding over all else!

For example:

Verse 1:33 “but whoever listens to me will dwell secure
    and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”

Verses 2:6-8 “For the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
    he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
guarding the paths of justice
    and watching over the way of his saints.”

Verses 3:5-7 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
    and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
    fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.”

Verses 3:13-24 “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom,

    and the one who gets understanding,
14 for the gain from her is better than gain from silver
    and her profit better than gold.
15 She is more precious than jewels,
    and nothing you desire can compare with her.
16 Long life is in her right hand;
    in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
    and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her;
    those who hold her fast are called blessed.

19 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth;
    by understanding he established the heavens;
20 by his knowledge the deeps broke open,
    and the clouds drop down the dew.

21 My son, do not lose sight of these—
    keep sound wisdom and discretion,
22 and they will be life for your soul
    and adornment for your neck.
23 Then you will walk on your way securely,
    and your foot will not stumble.
24 If you lie down, you will not be afraid;
    when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

2 Chronicles 16:9 (NLT)

“The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

Matthew 13:44 (ESV)

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

Isaiah 30:21 (ESV)

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying ‘This is the way, walk in it.”

Isaiah 31:1 (ESV)

“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord!”
